Mekikuziev and Alexander make weight!
On Friday night we'll see unbeaten UZbk destroyer Bektemir Melikuziev (3-0, 3) [Бектемир Мелиқўзиев] take on American veteran Vaughn Alexander (15-3, 9) in a bout for the WBA Continental Super Middleweight title. On Thursday night the two men took part in their weigh in for the bout, and both men made the Super Middleweight limit with no issues. On the scales Melikuziev was 167.5lbs a career lowest weight, whilst Alexander was 166.5lbs. The bout is assumed to be the first one where Melikuziev is actually fighting at his natural weight, though given how he looked there is a chance he could boil down to Middleweight in the future. A win here for the Uzbek would likely see him crash into the WBA rankings and begin 2020 in the pursuit of a world title fight. |
