Conor McGregor: Khabib ‘scurried out of the US to go home’

Conor McGregor has weighed in on the latest cancellation of a Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson fight.

UFC president Dana White is still determined to go forward with his UFC 249 card on April 18th, despite the fact that the lightweight champion had to pull out of his headlining bout due to coronavirus travel restrictions. A fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson has been scuttled five times now, which is ridiculous. And unsurprisingly, Khabib’s biggest rival decided to throw a couple of shots his way in the aftermath of his pullout.

That rival? The Notorious One himself, Conor McGregor.

Conor took to social media to discuss the canceled fight, and declared Ferguson the “winner”:

“The fact of the matter is, both Tony and Khabib where (sp) engaged in a game of chicken here towards the fight bell. With Khabib chickening out first. Making it 3-2 in pullouts in Tony’s favour. Khab scurried out of the US to home, and amid the crisis. Very high risk. Congrats Tony.”

It seemed that Conor was actually using his social media for good the last few days, warning the leaders of Ireland about the real threat of COVID-19 and recommending a lockdown of the country. Apparently he has turned heel again, which isn’t exactly shocking. Leave it to Conor to try to get under Khabib’s skin, even when they’re both out of the fight game for the time being.
