Lubin-Gausha tripleheader set after mildly dramatic weigh-in
Saturday night’s Showtime tripleheader is ready to go.
The Saturday night (SHO, 9 pm ET) PBC tripleheader from Connecticut is good to go, as five of six fighters made weight, and a new deal was reached for the one who didn’t, meaning all three bouts are still set.
The 154-pound WBC eliminator main event between Erickson Lubin (22-1, 16 KO) and Terrell Gausha (21-1-1, 10 KO) is good, with both fighters coming in just under the limit. Lubin had to strip down to make weight, but came in at 153¾, and having to bust the towel out isn’t that unusual; if it works without having to come back later, it’s usually not a problem. Gausha weighed at 153 even. The fight is set for 12 rounds.
In the 10-round featherweight co-feature, Tugstsogt Nyambayar (11-1, 9 KO) looks to take a step back toward a second title shot, having lost a WBC bid against Gary Russell Jr earlier this year, facing short notice opponent Cobia Breedy (15-0, 5 KO), who replaces Eduardo Ramirez. Nyambayar-Ramirez was meant to be a WBC eliminator. This fight wasn’t going to be, but the WBC made the choice to upgrade it to a 12-round eliminator as of this afternoon. Both fighters weighed in at 125½, below the limit of 126.

There was some drama on the scales for the 10-round welterweight opener, but the fight was renegotiated and is still on. Top prospect Jaron “Boots” Ennis (25-0, 23 KO) weighed in fine at 146, one pound below the limit, but veteran Juan Carlos Abreu (23-5-1, 21 KO) wasn’t even close at 150¼, and didn’t burn off the weight within the two-hour limit, either.
But the camps agreed on a new deal with a 151-pound catchweight, saving the fight itself.
