Athletes competed in traditional water sports, such as the duet free routine in artistic swimming, and non-traditional water sports, like the 400 meter hurdles, on Monday as rain soaked Tokyo during Olympic events.
Stanford’s Valarie Allman won the gold in the discus on her first throw after a rain delay. She is the third U.S. woman to win gold in that event, besting her competition with a throw of 226 feet, 3 inches.
