Twins release RHP Matt Shoemaker

The Minnesota Twins released right-handed pitcher Matt Shoemaker on Tuesday, weeks after designating the veteran for assignment.

Shoemaker accepted an assignment with Triple-A Saint Paul after clearing waivers on July 5. He had given up just four runs in 20 innings since.

Shoemaker, 34, went 3-8 with an 8.06 ERA in 16 games (11 starts) for Minnesota this season.
