Daniil Medvedev squeezes into Toronto semifinals

Top-seeded Daniil Medvedev came through in two tight tiebreakers to beat seventh-seeded Hubert Hurkacz 2-6, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (5) on Friday in the quarterfinals of the National Bank Open at Toronto.

Medvedev, a 25-year-old Russian, is through to his fourth ATP Tour semifinal of the year. He won the title at Mallorca, Spain, in June and reached the Australian Open final in February.
