Tonali explains difference between this season and the last one
Sandro Tonali has ‘no problems’ admitting the last season was not positive for him and explains he feels ‘more light-hearted’ now.
The 21-year-old started in Milan’s Serie A opener against Sampdoria on Monday. The Rossoneri sealed a 1-0 win thanks to a goal from Brahim Diaz.
“We had a solid start and it was helpful to score a goal at the very beginning,” Tonali told DAZN after the match.
“It was positive to start the game. I struggled last season because of COVID and because I hadn’t trained with the team during the pre-season,” he continued.
“These things can have an impact, mentally and physically. This year we got off on the right foot and we hope to continue on this path.
“I feel freer and more light-hearted. It’s not easy to swap Brescia with Milan, especially on loan and the problems I experienced.
“I had to stay home for ten days due to COVID, I have no problems saying that the last season was not positive.
“Now, I expect a positive season under every point of view.
“The new signings have proved to be able to make their contribution. Florenzi brought a dose of experience together with Giroud. We welcomed them with open arms.”
