Lautaro Martinez ‘on right track’ with Inter contract
Lautaro Martinez is ‘on the right track’ for a new contract with Inter, said his agent. ‘He is very happy in Italy and loves Italian football.’
The Argentina international is continually linked with a move abroad, as Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have all shown interest.
His current deal runs to June 2023 and negotiations for an extension have been going on for months.
“I want to immediately make clear that he is very happy in Italy and loves Italian football,” agent Alejandro Camano told Radio Kiss Kiss.
“We’ve been discussing the renewal with Inter for some time and I am really confident, because we are on the right track.
“Serie A is a more important and different league to what it was a few seasons ago. Lautaro is very happy to play with teammates like Edin Dzeko and Tucu Correa, who will cause all sorts of problems for opposition defences.”
The 24-year-old centre-forward was signed from Racing Club Avellaneda for €25m in 2018.
He has scored 54 goals and provided 20 assists in 140 competitive appearances for Inter, including five goals in six Serie A games during the current campaign.
Lautaro Martinez also has 15 goals in 31 senior caps for Argentina, contributing to their Copa America triumph against Brazil back in July.
There is a release clause worth €111m in his contract, but it is only valid for a couple of weeks during the summer.
