Reports: Justin Verlander stays with Astros on 1-year deal

Justin Verlander signed a one-year, $25 million deal Wednesday to stay with the Houston Astros, multiple outlets reported.

Verlander, 38, has a player option for 2023, per the reports.

The move comes hours after Verlander declined Houston's one-year, $18.4 million qualifying offer.

Verlander missed the entire 2021 season after Tommy John surgery in October 2020.
