The Norwegian striker, 21, is one of the most sought-after players on the planet.
He’s scored a colossal 80 goals and provided 21 assists in 79 appearances since joining from Red Bull Salzburg for £18million in 2020.
But his time in the Bundesliga could be short-lived.
Haaland has a release clause in his contract that will allow him to leave for a bargain £64million, and that can be activated this summer.
The player has many admirers but The Athletic claim it’s likely to come down to a straight shootout between City and Real Madrid.
And Betfair believe City are narrow favourites at odds of 2/1 after Guardiola discussed the club’s need for a centre-forward.
Over the weekend, he said: “I think the club needs a striker, definitely.
“You say we play fantastically well without a striker because we are winning. When we are not winning, you say we need a striker.

“You say, ‘how do these guys play without a striker? In the Premier League you have to play with a striker.’
“So, we need a striker, I think the club is going to try.”
Carlo Ancelotti’s side aren’t far behind at 5/2, although their pursuit could hinge on Kylian Mbappe.
The Frenchman is out of contract in June and is considered Real’s priority target, but should he make a U-turn and stay at PSG — Madrid can’t afford to lose ground on Haaland.
Barcelona are the closest challengers at 7/2 after claims manager Xavi flew to Munich to speak with the player.
Elsewhere Bayern Munich and Chelsea are available at 9/1 and 10/1 respectively, while PSG are offered at 12s.
Premier League duo Manchester United and Liverpool are locked together at 14/1, with Arsenal and Newcastle further back at the big prices of 25/1 and 33/1.
