Who is Tour de France star Tom Pidcock?

TOM PIDCOCK is quickly becoming one of the most talented riders to get on a peddle bike.

The MBE has had an illustrious career at such a young age and his quick rise to fame is unmatched.

And he cruised to an iconic at the most historical climb in cycling, Alpe d’Huez which has a staggering 21 switch backs.

But the historic Tour de France is what eludes Pidcock and he’ll be hoping to add that to his trophy cabinet this year.

Who is Tom Pidcock?

Thomas Pidcock commonly known as Tom was born on July 30, 1999 and resides with both parents in Leeds, England along with little brother Joe.

Pidcock’s mother and father are also keen cyclists which is why by age seven, the British star had already been involved in his first race at the Castle Combe circuit near Swindon.

However, the end result didn’t go too well, as Tom’s bike chain falling off half-way through meant that he disappointingly lost the race.

But the young cycling icon used that as motivation and practiced relentlessly throughout his school years.

Which then led to Tom’s first major success at age 14 – winning the toughest race of The British National Youth Road labelled Oliver’s Mount Climb.

And now, Pidcock competes in all three disciplines; Cyclo-cross, mountain bike and road bicycle using.

What has Tom Pidcock won?

Tom quickly realised that his calling was climbing instead of sprinting following his first big triumph.

Which was further solidified when he won a number of World Junior Championships – winning his first British National Under-23 cyclo-cross Championships title in 2017.

But 2019 saw the MBE claim first place for the first time at senior level during the Cyclo Cross National Championships.

Tom quickly retained his title the following year and then announced himself on the world stage when he secured gold in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

And his consistent first place achievements have continued in 2022 as Tom rode struck gold at the World Championships

When did Tom Pidcock become an MBE?

Pidcock, 22, was awarded with Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in the 2022 New Years Honours for service to cycling.
