BOXERS MAKE WEIGHT FOR ANOTHER SOLD OUT SHOW AT THE GRAND HO TRAM STRIP

BA RIA-VUNGTAO,VIETNAM- Three regional title bouts will have top billing once again at the Ballroom of the Grand Ho Tram Strip.
Olimjon Nazarov (27-5,15KO’s) of Uzbekistan will defend his WBO Oriental flyweight title against Filipino Bienvenido Ligas (14-2-2,9KO’s).
Ligas suffered a split decision loss to April Jay Abne in an OPBF Silver title bout held in Cebu last year. He bounced back by beating Roland Jay Biendima in a Philippine flyweight title bout by unanimous verdict.
The WBO July 2022 rankings has Nazarov as the number three contender to champion Junto Nakatani (28-0,18KO’s) of Japan. Last April, Nazarov beat another Filipino, Jerome Baloro, by unanimous decision in the same venue.
During the official weigh-in, Nazarov weighed in at 111.5 lbs, while Ligas was at 110.8 lbs.
Chan Ho Song (7-0,3KO’s) of South Korea will defend his WBO Oriental Youth junior welterweight title against Bunchai Phonsungnoen (4-1-1,3KO’s). Bunchai has a 1W-1D record in his last two contests. Chan won his title by spilt decision against Filipino Romer Pinili also last April.
Chan weighed 139.7 lbs while Bunchai stepped on the scales at 139.9 lbs.
Hometown favorite Hong Quan Dinh (8-1-1,4KO’s) will defend his IBF Asia lightweight title against Jules Victoriano (11-4,8KO’s) of the Philippines. Hong won the vacant belt by unanimous decision against Filipino Demar Pellio last April.
Victoriano bounced back from three straight losses to stop his last two opponents, Jetro Pabustan and Dave Barlas. The Vietnamese weighed in at 134.7 lbs while Victoriano was at 133.6 lbs.
For the undercards-
On the distaff side, Casey Morton (10-3-3,2KO’s) will face Thai Wassana Kamdee (5-6,4KO’s) in a non-title contest. Morton stepped on the scales at 115.5lbs, Wassana at 115 lbs.
Morton, from Hawaii,USA, captured the vacant WBO Female International junior bantamweight title by majority decision last year against India’s Urvashi Singh in Dubai. Morton has come up short in two world title shots against Japanese Miyo Yoshida and Chile’s Daniela Asenjo. Kamdee stopped Tassana Paladsrichua last June.
They are set for six rounds.
Phat Minh Sam (8-4,6KO’s) of Vietnam will be facing substitute Heri Purnomo (3-10,2KO’s). Purnomo replaced fellow Indonesian Frengky Rohi (8-12-1,3KO’s).Both weighed 108 lbs. They are scheduled for 8 rounds.
Abdulazizbek Najmiddinov (9-0,7KO’s) of Uzbekistan vs Rivo Kundimang 9-3-2,5KO’s for 8 rounds. The Uzbek weighed 127.4 lbs while the Indonesian was at 129.6 lbs.
It was announced that tickets for the show were sold out. The event is promoted by Cocky Buffalo Promotions and sanctioned by the Professional Boxing Commission of Vietnam.
