The Portland Trail Blazers are skidding to a rough end of a regular season that once held a ton of playoff promise.
Since reaching .500 at 26-26 on Feb. 3, they’ve gone 7-19 and have been eliminated from postseason contention. Damian Lillard hasn’t played in almost two weeks, and they only have a shell of a lineup remaining.
Yet, this team isn’t completely rolling over.
Portland went into Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves as 19.5-point underdogs and not only covered the massive spread, but won outright at +1000 moneyline odds.
According to ESPN’s Stats and Info, it was the NBA’s largest point spread upset since the Mavericks beat the SuperSonics on April 6, 1993.

You read that right. The last time an upset of this magnitude occurred, a team that doesn’t even exist anymore was on the losing end. It’s the second-largest upset ATS since 1990-91.
Portland’s win was especially impressive because the Timberwolves are in the thick of the play-in tournament and clawing for every win they can get. Though if you ask Rudy Gobert, the NBA probably fixed this game against them.
