DJ Moore Had Eye-Opening Luke Getsy Comments After Packers Loss
The loss was painfully familiar. Chicago Bears fans have seen it play out too many times to count. The Green Bay Packers looked better coaches and better quarterbacked on Sunday, cruising to a 17-9 win in which the Bears offense once again failed to muster any kind of response. Protection was leaky. Justin Fields couldn’t make enough throws. Worst of all, the game plan lacked any sort of common sense. That put offensive coordinator Luke Getsy behind the bullseye once again. Fans have grown tired of him looking constantly outmatched. It appears players are, too. DJ Moore is among them.
The star wide receiver shared the frustration of the Bears’ latest loss to Green Bay. Putting up nine points didn’t sit well with him. He stated that it was up to the players to execute properly, which they didn’t do. However, he was given the chance to offer an endorsement of Getsy. Instead, what he gave was about as lukewarm of a response as it gets.
“I think he’s fine. You know, like I said, it just comes down to us being explosive on the offensive side. We got the players to do it. We got our QB to do it. Everything else, we just need to call the plays that put us in position to have explosives.”
One thing that remains true in the NFL? Players know. They may not always voice it, but they know when coaches aren’t good enough. That response by Moore tells you everything you need to know about his thoughts on Getsy.
DJ Moore knows bad coaching when he sees it.
It’s been a regular part of his career. He had two years of Ron Rivera in Carolina, followed by Matt Rhule. Now he comes over to Chicago, where he gets stuck with Matt Eberflus and Luke Getsy. Some guys just have the worst luck. The Bears have routinely been unable to identify quality offensive play callers for years. Before Getsy, it was Matt Nagy, then Marc Trestman, then Mike Tice, and so on. This is an organizational epidemic they haven’t been able to solve for decades. Now with the team potentially eyeing a new quarterback, it falls to GM Ryan Poles to figure it out.
Players may want to keep Justin Fields. The problem is if they do that, Getsy probably stays too. A system switch would probably do more harm than good. One can bet DJ Moore and others will be asked their opinions on the coaching staff over the next few days. Once Poles and team president Kevin Warren have the information, they’ll get together to make a decision. If others feel as Moore does, it would be stunning if Getsy calls another play on the sideline for the Bears.
