Eagles Superfan Rob McElhenney Was Glued to Playoff Game While Sitting in Crowd at Emmy Awards
Actor and producer Rob McElhenney was surely honored when he was asked to be a presenter for the 2023 Emmy Awards. Earlier this month, the FX soccer documentary series Welcome to Wrexham, for which he’s an executive producer, won five Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
However, the diehard Philadelphia Eagles fan may have been less enthused when the NFL scheduled his team’s wild-card playoff game versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for Monday night–the same night as the Emmy Awards ceremony.
The star of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia did what he could to make the best of the situation. His wife and Always Sunny co-star Kaitlin Olson posted a photo to McElhenney’s social media showing him watching the Eagles game on his phone.

For McElhenney’s sake, the hope is that the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, where the Emmy Awards ceremony is being held, has excellent Wi-Fi. If not, he received an excellent consolation prize with an Emmy trophy.
Worth it I guess

McElhenney may be grateful for the distraction–especially if he has to present and put away his phone–if the Eagles don’t rally from their 16–9 halftime deficit.
