Danielle Hunter classily won't wear J.J. Watt's number with Texans, and the Houston legend loved it
Danielle Hunter knows his Houston Texans history.
The star defensive end who joined the franchise on the rise during NFL free agency has worn No. 99 for his entire career while with the Minnesota Vikings. But now that he’s a Texan, the question came up from a reporter: Would he wear it in Houston?
And Hunter nailed his response, because he knew that number belonged to former Texans legend J.J. Watt, so he’s thinking No. 55 instead. Even though Watt’s number isn’t technically retired, there was no way he was touching it.
Classy! What’s more is Watt loved the gesture as he posted on X (formerly Twitter):

A guy I would have loved to play alongside.
Nothing but respect.
