Virginia's putrid 2024 First Four appearance had fans frustrated with Indiana State's tournament snub
College basketball fans had quite the bone to pick with the selection committee on Tuesday night during the First Four play-in game in Dayton, Ohio, between 10 seeds Virginia and Colorado State.
Virginia’s putrid offensive performance in particular (only 14 points in the first half) had everyone dreaming of a world where Indiana State actually got a chance to compete for the 10 seed instead.
Led by breakout mid-major star Robbie Avila, Indiana State had one of the most potent offenses in the country this past season and would’ve been a much better fit for March Madness than Virginia. Tuesday’s game proved as much as Colorado State coasted to a 67-42 victory to snag the 10 seed.
This is the kind of game that proves why mid-major schools need to be on the big stage when possible, as they’re the ones entrusted with plenty of the excitement that makes March Madness such a joy.
Give the people what they want: Indiana State!
