Caleb Williams had a very revealing remark about playing with Bears’ Keenan Allen at his pro day
After trading away Justin Fields, the Chicago Bears are presumably ready to do the inevitable and select Caleb Williams at No. 1 overall in April’s NFL Draft. It’s the very obvious, no-brainer pick, and one that seems to have the potential to be different from every Bears quarterback failure of the past.
It looks like Williams understands the likely inevitability of his NFL future, too.
On Wednesday, Williams performed for a gathered contingent of league evaluators at USC’s pro day. When talking about the Bears’ recent acquisition of six-time Pro Bowl receiver Keenan Allen, Williams gushed about how he and the playmaker have already connected before. Allen was, of course, a Southern California resident as a member of the Los Angeles Chargers, giving him the opportunity to occasionally hang with Williams as USC’s quarterback.
More importantly, Williams said that Allen is now “here for a fourth-round pick.”
Oh, wait. Allen is “here”? As in, with Williams … on the Bears? What an (entirely unsurprising) slip of the tongue:
If you’re a Bears fan, it’s nice to see that Williams already has an established rapport with a No. 1 playmaker he might throw dimes to this fall. Given the intense pressure of playing quarterback in Chicago, it’s even better to see that a confident Williams is already (even if accidentally) starting to operate like he’s “The Man.”
