4 men's March Madness teams on upset watch in the Sweet 16, including 1 seed Houston
I’m not breaking any news here when I tell you the NCAA men’s tournament has been incredibly favorable to the betting public. That’s because the favorites — specifically double-digit favorites — have won a majority of games against the spread through two rounds.
As we turn the page to the Sweet 16, though, with teams more closely aligned in ability, there are fewer large favorites for the public to lean on. That presumably increases the likelihood of upsets. If there was ever a time to deviate from what the trend has been this March, it’s now.
If you check out my second-chance bracket from earlier in the week, you’ll see I went with a lot of chalk and picked only a few upsets based on a combination of gut feeling and other factors. But if you want to know which teams are truly at risk of having their tournaments spoiled by a lower seed based on matchups, I’ve got that for you too.
