8 picks to finish Top 20 at the 2024 Masters, including first-timer Wyndham Clark
It doesn’t matter how good a golfer is, if they aren’t at the top of their game going into Augusta, they will be humbled. We see it every year, when somebody we expected to compete for a green jacket misses the cut completely.
That said, some players have demonstrated an ability to consistently put up respectable scores in this tournament. And others have so much momentum going in, they’re hard to ignore — even if we don’t think they can win. Those are the type of players I’m targeting for my best bets to finish in the top 20.
Masters Leaderboard: Live leaderboard, Schedule, Tee times
1. Ludvig Aberg (-125)
The favorite among golfers making their Masters debut, Aberg is a strong bet to finish top 20 after doing so in five of his last six events on the PGA Tour. The one time he missed the top 20, he finished 25th.
2. Wyndham Clark (-125)
Clark’s odds as the top debutant are second only to Aberg, who he beat for first place at Pebble Beach in February. It’s been a strong year for Clark.
3. Cameron Smith (+110)
It’s a little concerning Smith had to withdraw from his last event before the Masters due to illness, but it’s hard to ignore someone who has two top-three finishes at Augusta in the last three years.
4. Sahith Theegala (+115)
In his Masters debut last year, Theegala was able to play his way into ninth place. With five top-20s this year and just one missed cut, I like his chances to push for another strong finish in 2024.
5. Shane Lowry (+115)
Lowry has placed top 20 in each of the last two Masters and comes into this year’s tournament fresh off a strong month of play in March.
6. Cameron Young (+130)
Going from missing the cut in his first Masters two years ago to finishing seventh last year and putting together some really strong rounds in 2024, Young has to be feeling confident going into Augusta.
7. Russell Henley (+160)
It’s been boom or bust for Henley lately, but he typically plays well at Augusta. We’re talking three top 20s in his last four trips (though two came before 2019), and even his misses have been just outside the top 20.
8. Corey Conners (+170)
Conners hasn’t missed a single cut this year, which automatically inspires confidence that he’s ready to bounce back from missing the cut at last year’s Masters. As does two top-10 finishes in his previous two trips to Augusta.
