The 8 golfers with the worst odds to win the 2024 Masters
The field for this year’s Masters Tournament is sitting somewhere around 89 players, but just one will earn the honor to sport that special green jacket when plays wraps on Sunday.
2022 champ Scottie Scheffler is a strong favorite to be that golfer at the top of the leaderboard, but on the other end of the spectrum are a few players who don’t inspire quite as much confidence from fans and oddsmakers alike. And one thing most of those extreme long-shots have in common is they’re either older players or amateurs.
Here’s a look at the players with the worst odds at BetMGM, starting from the bottom.
Masters Leaderboard: Live leaderboard, Schedule, Tee times
+300000: Jose Maria Olazabal
The 58-year-old Olazabal is a two-time Masters champ, winning in 1994 and 1999, but he hasn’t earned a tour win since 2002.
+150000: Vijay Singh
A familiar name at Augusta, Singh is the 2000 Masters champion. The 61-year-old missed the cut the last two years.
+150000: Mike Weir
Weir is the 2003 Masters champ, but he’s made just two cuts in 12 appearances at Augusta since 2011.
+150000: Fred Couples
Couples’ Masters win came way back in 1992 and it remains the 64-year-old’s only major tournament victory.
+100000: Stewart Hagestad
Hagestad is the first non-champion on this list, with his best finish of two appearances at Augusta being 36th in 2017. He qualified to play this year as the U.S. Mid-Amateur champion.
+100000: Santiago de la Fuente
Making his Masters debut, the 22-year-old de la Fuente qualified as the Latin America Amateur champion.
+100000: Neal Shipley
Another amateur, Shipley is making his Augusta debut as runner-up to the U.S. Amateur champion.
+100000: Denny McCarthy
Fresh off a second-place finish at last week’s Valero Texas Open, McCarthy qualified for his first Masters by finishing 2023 with a top-50 world golf ranking.
