A tearful Verne Lundquist got a beautitful Jim Nantz tribute after his final Masters call
Verne Lundquist’s time calling the Masters has come to an end and he got an incredible tribute from Jim Nantz when all was said and done.
At the 2024 Masters finale on Sunday, Lundquist made his final call as Scottie Scheffler birdied No. 16 ahead of his likely victory at the tournament. Tributes were pouring in for Lundquist — a 40-year veteran of announcing the Masters — all day, including ones from the Masters itself and Tiger Woods.

When the moment finally came, Lundquist made the call and handed the broadcast off to Nantz. And Nantz, being the absolute pro he is, put the moment into words beautifully, which made Lundquist quite emotional.
