Ce dimanche, à Ramona aux Etats-Unis, le jeune lituanien Mykolas Alekna (21 ans) a lancé le disque à 74,35 m, battant le plus vieux record du monde masculin en athlétisme : les 74,08 m de l’Allemand Jürgen Schult qui tenaient depuis près de 38 ans (6 juin 1986). Le plus vieux record du monde de l’athlétisme, hommes et femmes confondus, reste la propriété depuis juillet 1983 de la Tchèque Jarmila Kratochvilova sur le 800m (1 min 53 sec 28).
