For the second year, the New Jersey Devils named the MVP Award for all four high school state hockey finals in honor of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau. The Gaudreau brothers were New Jersey high school hockey greats, with Johnny going on to play in the NHL. The Gaudreau brothers were killed in August 2024 when they were struck by a car while riding bicycles.
