This primitive mechanical device, unchanged in a 100 years, has caused many planes to drill holes in the ground - did the pilot think he was about to stall and then pushed the nose over into a vertical dive? Why a computer can't somehow monitor the thing and in a failure RED flag the instrument with a master warning??
