Can someone tell us the species of a snake that crawled into our house and made its home in my daughters school bag

A big black snake escaped from somewhere and entered our home and we just saw the end of it entering the backpack and we don't know if it's dangerous to pick up and move it somewhere with a bit more warmth and space until we find the owner.
