More trouble for Trudeau in India: Liberals invite/un-invite convicted terrorist to dinner
Trudeaus office said an invitation sent to Jaspal Atwal for a reception in Delhi was rescinded as soon as it was discovered
At the time of the 1986 shooting, Atwal was a Sikh separatist active in the pro-Khalistan Federation.
He and 3 others were convicted in '87 of trying to kill Malkiat Sidhu on an isolated road. The Punjab cabinet minister was visiting BC for his nephews wedding.
The trial judge called the attack an act of terrorism and sentenced Atwal and the others to 20 years.
