You have probably heard about the Wagner group paramilitary organisation operating in Ukraine and Syria. Many claim PMC Wagner is really a unit of the Russian Ministry of Defence in disguise, which is used by the Russian government in conflicts where deniability is called for.

According to RFE/RL news media, " There has been no contact with six men from one Russian village since an incident in Syria on February 7, when a large number of Russian mercenaries were reportedly killed by U.S. air strikes."
