Slovenian PM Miro Cerer quits

Slovenia's Prime Minister Miro Cerar has resigned after a key investment project hit the buffers.

Cerer stepped down after the Supreme Court annulled the result of a referendum

approving a 1-billion-euro railway project.

The PM said he has had enough of coalition partners and unions who cared more about party interests.

The court ruled that government backing for the project could have affected the outcome of the vote.

The September referendum approved a plan to link the Adriatic port of Koper with the Divaca hub near the Italian border.

It was the centre-left government's biggest investment programme.
