shane mcmahon's injury report: SmackDown LIVE, March 13, 2018
On this week's SmackDown Live episode, Shane McMahon announced that he was going to take a license from his job as a WWE Commissioner. His last act as Commissioner was to make a fight for WrestleMania 34, where he put Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn against each other. He was interrupted before he could leave for Kevin and Sami while they went down to the ring. After a verbal confrontation, the duo attacked him violently hitting his final moves on him, before dragging him to the back where they continued their attack.
WWE confirmed that Shane had suffered serious injuries as a result of the attack and promised more updates on the status of SmackDown Live commissioner in the next 24 hours.
Shane McMahon has not had the best relationship with Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens in recent months, since Kevin attacked Vince McMahon on SmackDown Live. Kevin and Shane met in a Hell in a Cell combat where Sami helped Kevin win. The rivalry between Shane and the team of Kevin and Sami reached its peak in Fastlane, where he was ringside for the Six-Pack-Challenge Match.
Kevin accidentally hit Shane with a Superkick at one point, after which the SmackDown Live commissioner decided to get involved in the process.
He dragged the referee when it seemed that Kevin was about to pick up the victory, and then dragged Kevin when it seemed that Sami was about to puncture him. The fight was won by AJ Styles, but it left a lot of space for Kevin and Sami to have a legitimate complaint with the Commissioner.
In this week's SmackDown episode, after Shane announced a bout between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn for WrestleMania, he was interrupted and then attacked by the two stars. They hit him with his finishing moves inside the ring and then placed his head inside a steel chair before taking it to the ring.
Then they dragged him to the back where he was hit with a Powerbomb on a metal rack.
WWE medical staff said that the attack with the steel chair had caused him to suffer a "laryngeal contusion". His injuries were further exacerbated by the Powerbomb on the metal rack that caused 'trapeze and rhomboid tensions'.
They also said that they were inspecting him to make sure that his airway was not compromised and that there was an update of his situation in the next 24 hours.
