Dashcam video of fatal deputy-involved shooting

The dashcam video recorded last week during a deadly deputy-involved shooting was released Monday.

Harris County deputies said Danny Ray Thomas was killed in a shooting March 22 at Imperial Valley Drive and Greens Road.

Investigators said that Thomas was wearing his pants around his ankles, talking to himself and hitting vehicles with his hands as they passed. A deputy who noticed what was going on stopped and told Thomas to stop, investigators said. Thomas refused and began acting aggressively toward the deputy, investigators said. The deputy shot Thomas once in the chest, and he later died at a hospital, investigators said.

Gonzalez said the deputy was not wearing his bodycam at the time of the shooting.

Video of the confrontation surfaced on social media, showing a man walking toward a deputy who had a weapon trained on him. The deputy continues to back away from the man, almost walking in a circle. The video did not show the shooting.
