Guatemalans celebrate Good Friday with bloody bare-knuckle fistfight

Young men in Guatemalan town of Chivarreto engage in a bare-knuckle boxing festival for Easter on Friday.

The festival takes place every year on Good Friday in the mountains north of Quetzaltenango, the second largest city in the country, which is home to a variety of indigenous Mayan groups.

The origins and date of the meaning behind the festival remain unknown but mainly believe it was a way for rival villagers to settle disputes.
