Warbirds Over Wanaka Yak 3 crashes into a cherry picker
An eyewitness captured the moment of the accident involving the Yak-3 fighter that took place on Saturday, March 31, during the Warbirds Over Wanaka air show in New Zealand.
The pilot landed after a demonstration flight. For some reason, he did not notice the airfield car and crashed into it.
As a result of the collision, the pilot was not injured, but the plane suffered serious injuries - he lost his wing and chassis.
According to the specialized aviation portal Pioneer Aero , the Yak-3 crash that was involved in the accident is a converted Yak-11, bought by its owner New Zealandman Arthur Dovey in Egypt.
After the acquisition of the fighter, the aircraft was sent to Russia, where the specialists made work that allowed the design and tactical and technical characteristics of the car to be brought closer to the original.
