Russian MP Shot Dead While Driving

The horrifying moment a Russian Communist MP was shot dead while driving to work was captured on a dashcam. An unknown gunman opened fire on Magomed Askhabov, from the south-western Russia's autonomous Republic of Chechnya. Investigators have said Askhabov may have been killed by ISIS-inspired terrorists, but Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has poured water on this theory.

He claimed that the murder was not political, Crime Russia reports, posting on Instagram that this had been confirmed by 'numerous independent sources, as well as the reports of law enforcement agencies'. Askhabov, head of the committee on land relations, was on the way to work to the city of Grozny when the Toyota Camry that he was driving was shot by an unknown gunman.

Dashcam footage shows another vehicle driving alongside Askhabov's to his left. Gunshots are heard and suddenly the car rams into a lamppost, destroying the windscreen before the car spins over and turns onto its side.
