Commuter Alert: BLM plans to shut down Tapan Zee Bridge (NY) today!
This only makes everyone hate them more, and they don't realize it.
LOHUD.COM -- A march across the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge is being planned Saturday to bring attention to the issues facing black women in suburban and rural New York communities.
Whether the activists get onto the Tappan Zee Bridge replacement is another story, with an organizer saying the state was threatening them with mass arrests.
"Why not just help us get across the bridge?" said Vanessa Green, who stressed that the point is simply a peaceful, impactful protest. "I don't want to get arrested. I would take an arrest for the cause."
The march kicks off at 11 a.m. with a rally in Tarrytown at the corner of Broadway and Route 119 before things get moving at noon. According to the event's Facebook page, the march will highlight the ways in which black women outside urban areas deal with and celebrate their contributions to fighting .
