From the youtube: "Local seventh graders spent the day on Harvard's campus exploring how the Gullah language, a primarily oral language, managed to both survive and thrive through generations. Harvard instructor Sunn m'Cheaux says evidence of the language is far more prevalent than many realize. Students were surprised to learn that many of the common phrases they know, are actually rooted in the Gullah language. Probably the most recognizable Gullah word - Kumbayah. The common song sung in churches, scout troops, and schools nationwide is actually a Gullah prayer"
