China-Russia natural gas pipeline to be completed next year. The pipeline is expected to be completed by next year -- transporting natural gas from Russia to meet the rising demand for cleaner fuel in China.The over-one-kilometer underwater section is the most crucial and difficult part of the East Route Natural Gas Pipeline. The pipeline was designed to transport 38 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year from Russia, but the two sides are contemplating increasing that amount already. China will pay Russia in Yuan currency, thus further weakening the choke on Russia by the West.
