1945 US Fire Bombs Tokyo Killing 100,000 Civilians In One Night
Heres a bit of interesting history before America developed all their precision weapons. Even worse, they targeted this part of Tokyo knowing it was a residential area, just to see it burn and kill Japanese civilians. This is what the US was doing to secure it's "safety" at a time when smart weapons did not exist.
Fast forward to today, if you are unlucky enough to have a conflict on your territory and do not pocess smart bombs, the
US will villianize you, demonize you, and call your military operation illegal, because you dont have the smart weapons the US has today. See, back when America was rising to power, they could do whatever they wanted to secure their "safety", nothing and no weapons, including nukes was off the table. Targeting civilians was an option to weaken your enemy.
Now that America has secured its spot as number one, everyone has to play by their rules that they have secured through the targeted killing of civilians, use of dumb bombs and weapons, and general laying waste of city centers and populations. When America was doing it, it was ok. It was good, in fact. Now that they dont have to use such tactics, NO ONE CAN.
Countries like Syria need to "lay down their arms" because their dumb bombs accidentally kill civilians. Or on purpose, whatever, only America gets to do that.
On top of atomizing 400,000 Japs, mostly civilian, they burned hundreds of thousands more to ashes to send a message to the Japanese government.
Americas current position on these matters has NOTHING to do with human rights, and everything with gate keeping their hard won position.
"You dont have smart weapons, so you dont have the legitimate right to defend yourself. Step down and just roll over and die."
I can only imagine the atrocities the US would commit in self defense, if such a war reached their homeland.
