A real bad idea that needs to go away. 

Now that the Trump administration stood up on its hind legs and declined to recognize China’s ‘market economy’ status, it should do the military equivalent and withdraw Beijing’s invitation to the next Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise in 2018.

RIMPAC is the US Navy’s premier multilateral exercise and is held biannually in Hawaii. Once upon a time, it was for America’s friends in the Asia–Pacific region. Читать дальше...

Schimel defends not asking journalist for source of leak

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel defends not asking a journalist to reveal who leaked him documents collected in the investigation of Gov. Scott Walker's campaign. Schimel spokesman Johnny Koremenos said Thursday that Schimel "declined to take this aggressive and potentially coercive action out of respect" for the reporter's free speech rights. Ex-FBI Agent: New Private Spy Network Could Lead US 'Down a Slippery Slope'

Records show several oil, gas facility explosions this year

DENVER (AP) — A Denver newspaper's review of state records shows at least a dozen explosions have occurred on oil and gas industry facilities in Colorado since an explosion killed two men in April. The Denver Post reports the state has not taken enforcement action in the case of the deaths that occurred in the town of Firestone, citing the lack of rules covering fatal accidents in the oil and gas industry. Starbucks launches limited-time Christmas Tree Frappuccino

Starbucks Corp. said Thursday that it has launched a limited-time Christmas Tree Frappuccino beverage, available from Dec. 7 through Dec. 11. The drink tops a Peppermint Mocha Crème Frappuccino with a Matcha whipped cream "tree" decorated with a caramel drizzle garland, candied cranberry ornaments and a strawberry topper. Pearl Harbor survivors to remember those killed

Uber reportedly paid a 20-year-old man to keep silent about security breach

A 20-year-old man was responsible for the massive data breach at Uber last year, and the company paid him to destroy the data through its bug bounty program, reports Reuters. In November, Uber revealed it suffered from a cyberattack in October 2016 that exposed the private data of 57 million drivers and customers, which it then covered up. Uber allegedly paid hackers a $100,000 ransom to delete the data and not disclose what had happened to the media and public. The company didn’t say how the hacker was paid, or who he was.
