Nur Stunden nachdem sich die deutsche AUA-Mutter Lufthansa als erwartete Retterin der österreichischen Air-Berlin-Tochter verabschiedet hatte, meldete Niki in Deutschland die Zahlungsunfähigkeit an. Eine Berliner Gerichtssprecherin bestätigte der Nachrichtenagentur Reuters das Einlangen eines Insolvenzantrages.

Die Lufthansa hat am Mittwochnachmittag die geplante Übernahme der österreichischen Air-Berlin-Tochter Niki aufgegeben. Als Grund gab sie die kritische Haltung der EU-Wettbewerbsbehörde an. Air Berlin sucht nach dem gescheiterten Lufthansa-Deal nun Alternativen für Niki. In Wien wurden am Mittwochnachmittag mehrere Krisensitzungen zur Zukunft von Niki zusammengetrommelt.

Die deutsche AUA-Mutter Lufthansa hat die geplante Übernahme von Niki aufgegeben. Das Angebot für die österreichische Air Berlin-Tochter wurde zurückgezogen. Grund sind harte Fusionsauflagen durch die EU-Wettbewerbsbehörde. Die Lufthansa hatte bereits Zugeständnisse gemacht, vor allem einen Verzicht auf bestimmte Start- und Landerechte. Das hat der EU-Kommission aber nicht gereicht.
