Human brucellosis: Widespread information deficiency hinders an understanding of global disease frequency

Background

For decades, human brucellosis has been recognized worldwide as a significant cause of morbidity, yet the annual incidence of this disease remains unknown. We analyzed this frequency, using international reports (2005–2019), identifying information gaps, and distinguishing a possible path forward.

Metacommunity analyses show an increase in ecological specialisation throughout the Ediacaran period

The first animals appear during the late Ediacaran (572 to 541 Ma); an initial diversity increase was followed reduction in diversity, often interpreted as catastrophic mass extinction. We investigate Ediacaran ecosystem structure changes over this time period using the “Elements of Metacommunity Structure” framework to assess whether this diversity reduction in the Nama was likely caused by an external mass extinction, or internal metacommunity restructuring. Taken during my first trip to Spain and visit to the excellent Museo del Aire.  This facility has six exhibition galleries and over 150 aircraft on display.  The F1 (designated C.14 in Spain) served as Spain’s primary air defense interceptors until they were superseded by EF-18A Hornets. The Mirage F1 EDA was an export version of the Mirage F1E delivered to Qatar that were later transferred to Spain in the late 1990’s.
