The Indian Supreme Court has rejected Lt Col Prasad Shrikant Purohit's application for a discharge in connection with the 2008 Malegaon bombing. Purohit, along with BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur and six others, is being prosecuted for the blast. All accused are on bail, and the Supreme Court has said the Bombay High Court's observation that Purohit's conduct does not pertain to official duties does not violate either the prosecution or the defence in the trial.
