Chennai: Indian men's hockey team captain Harmanpreet Singh and head coach Craig Fulton are both sceptical of the proposed rule change around penalty corners.

‘Our biggest challenge at the European Championship will be that the ball has to go in every time. Most people think we score a lot. I think that we score too little’, concludes national coach Paul van Ass, just under three weeks before the start of the European Championship in Mönchengladbach (August 18-27).

The Malaysian team’s hockey coach Arul Anthoni might be bemused by the Asian Champions Trophy (ACT) being held so close to the Asian Games but India head coach Craig Fulton today said it remains an important event to fine-tune the team ahead of the quadrennial continental showpiece.

The Indian men’s hockey team will take on the People’s Republic of China in its Asian Champions Trophy 2023 opener at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium in Chennai on Thursday.

Pakistan are the most successful team in the history of the tournament alongside India with three Asian Champions Trophy titles.

The Pakistan men’s hockey team arrived in Chnneai late Tuesday night for the Asian Champions Trophy 2023. Pakistan team entered India on Tuesday through the Attari-Wagah border in Amritsar and then took a flight to Chennai via Bangalore.

Pakistan will take on Malaysia in their opening game, while China are scheduled to lock horns with hosts India in their campaign opener
