[Cross Country] Women's, men's cross country compete at Greater Louisville Classic
The women's cross country program at Shawnee State obtained top-100 finishes from Brooke Smith and Marissa Smith, while the men's cross country program took time to get additional experience for its second batch of runners at the Greater Louisville Classic, which was held in Louisville, Ky. on Saturday.
For the women, Brooke Smith, who finished 54th overall with her 17:59, was one of only 55 runners in the field of 342 competitors to run a time of under 18 minutes in the Women's Gold 5K run. Smith beat out an astounding 181 NCAA Division I runners in her splendid piece of work. Marissa Smith, who finished in 94th place by running a 18:22, bested 158 NCAA Division I runners en route to collecting her fourth straight top-two team finish in as many races for SSU to start the year.
