Aga Khan Trophy hero Shane finished third in CSI5* $425,000 Lugano Diamonds Grand Prix 1.60m at Wellington, Florida overnight. The Corkman, on board James Kann Cruz (ISH), put in a spectacular round of jumping in round one to join six other pairings, including Ireland’s Daniel Coyle, in the 1.60m jump-off. On what proved a tough course, the Corkman had a clear round and a time score of 42.35 seconds. Derry’s Daniel Coyle had also finished the jump-off with a clear round. The pair seemed tough to beat but America’s Laura Kraut and Baloutinue was just 2.09 seconds faster than Sweetnam and took victory in a time of 40.26 seconds. America’s McLain Ward split the pair on the podium after they finished the jump-off with a clear round and the time of 40.56 seconds.
