Giants waste Posey homer in rare Blach defeat
Blach finally faltered Wednesday night after four straight wins, allowing five runs over six innings in a 6-3 Brewers victory.
Despite a three-run inning that included a mammoth two-run homer by Buster Posey, the Giants fell 13 games below .500 for the first time this season and 14 out of first place in the National League West.
[...] the Brewers threw up a roadblock.
The middle of the Milwaukee lineup scored twice in the fourth to tie the game 3-3.
In the fifth, Domingo Santana hit a two-run single and Jesus Aguilar broke the tie with an exquisite piece of hitting.
Two doubles in the sixth, by Manny Piña and Orlando Arcia, gave Milwaukee a 5-3 lead, which grew to 6-3 on Jonathan Villar’s homer off George Kontos in the seventh.
The Brewers also ended the rookie’s streak of five starts lasting at least seven innings.
“The way he pitches, the way he works, not only on his start days, but on his between-start days, it’s impressive how he goes about his business,” Blach said.
