Nigerian Muslims receive HUGE treat for Ramadan from Saudi Arabia
- Two hundred tons of dates were presented by the Charge d’Affaires of the Saudi embassy Dr Yahya Ali Mughram
- Mughram expressed desires for stronger bilateral ties between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia
- The federal government disclosed that Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) would be the main beneficiaries of the gifts
As Muslims observe Ramadan, 200 tons of dates have been donated to the federal government for distribution to those observing the fast, by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Premium Times reports.
This development was made public in a statement released from the Saudi embassy in Abuja.
According to the statement, the items were presented to the minister of state for foreign affairs, Hajiya Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim, by the Charge d’Affaires, Dr Yahya Ali Mughram.

Mughram wished Nigeria and Saudi Arabia peace, progress and prosperity while expressing the wishes of the kingdom for stronger bilateral ties between the two countries.
In response, Hajiya Khadijah thanked the Saudi government for the gesture.
The minister stated that the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) would be the major beneficiaries of the donation and the gesture would certainly strengthen the long-existing bilateral relations between the two countries.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that the country regarded as the birthplace of Islam, Saudi Arabia, announced the beginning of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan on Saturday, May 27.
This announcement was made on Thursday, May 25 by the State House.
Ramadan lasts 29 to 30 days based on the visual sightings of the crescent moon.
