Moody's downgrades McDonald's on concerns about debt-funded shareholder returns

Moody's Investors Service downgraded McDonald's Corp.'s senior unsecured rating to Baa1 from A3 Wednesday, after the company said it will ramp up returns to shareholders and issue debt to do so. McDonald's told investors at a meeting on Tuesday that it plans to return $30 billion to shareholders in the three-year period to end 2016, and will fund $10 billion of that total with fresh debt. Spanish Court To Hear Government Appeal Vs. Catalan Secession Move: Media

MADRID (Reuters) - Spain's Constitutional Court has agreed to hear the government's appeal against Catalonia's declaration of intent to start building a separate republic, suspending any secession process in legal terms, Spanish media reported on Wednesday. The court also notified senior members of the Catalan Parliament, which represents Spain's wealthiest northeastern region, that if they fail to take the decision into account, they could be suspended from their posts and face legal action.
