It's been 'about as good as it gets' for bond investors

Bond investors just had an absolutely dynamite quarter.

Steven Major, head of global fixed income research at HSBC, thinks it was so good in fact that it may be the peak.

"From a historical perspective, returns have been about as good as it gets for bonds," said Major in a note to clients Wednesday.

Returns for bonds in everything from US Treasuries to European high yield corporates for the first three months of 2016 were far above their 2015 returns. Читать дальше...

Research firm Needham presented a new way to evaluate Apple's business in a note on Wednesday that suggests Apple could be worth as much as $170 per share.

The key, Needham analyst Laura Martin writes, is that while Apple only really makes money when one of its customers buys a new device, those devices are "sequels" to older devices, which means there's actually a much lower risk of that sale not recurring, given Apple's large built-in fanbase.

Former Massey Energy Chief Executive Don Blankenship was sentenced to a year in prison and fined $250,000 on Wednesday for his role in a 2010 coal mine explosion that killed 29 people.

Blankenship, known as West Virginia's "king of coal" for his rags-to-riches background and tough approach to business, was also sentenced in U.S. District Court to a year of supervised probation after release.
