Yellen has recently noted that the U.S. job market and housing recovery have lifted the economy close to full health despite the risks that remain, including a global economic slump. Yellen has also met with Obama on two occasions to discuss the progress being made in implementing the sweeping overhaul of banking regulations that Congress passed following the 2008 financial crisis.

It's a Canadian holiday that occurs during the same weekend as President's Day in the U.S. It was created to give people a chance to spend more time with those they cherish most, and that's exactly what many of us do.

Marathon Oil Corp. said Monday it plans to sell $950 million worth of assets, vowing to focus on lower-risk U.S. resources to protect its balance sheet amid falling oil prices. Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc. said late Monday it entered an agreement that allows it to extend the deadline for filing its annual report. Valeant fell under close scrutiny after the drug maker said in mid-March it still hadn't filed its annual report with the Securities and Exchange Commission, putting it in jeopardy of having creditors calling for an early repayment of debt.
